History of The Velvet Shoestring
"You can decorate anything on a SHOESTRING."
Family start-up business from the ground up. Decorators Betty and Jackie wanted to provide the Williamsburg area with high-quality consignment shopping, on a “shoestring”. It started back in 2005 in a small 1,200 square ft. building on Merrimac Trail. In 2007 they moved down the street to 311 2nd Street storefront location and eventually double its size and clients to over 10,000 square feet of showroom space and over 8,000 consignors. Due to the business’ success and expansion, Betty’s son Michael and daughter in- law Joanne moved to Williamsburg from NJ to help with the growing business.

Betty "Meega"
Owner
Betty aka Meega, Owner of The Velvet Shoestring, opening the flagship store in 2006. Betty loves to cook and entertain family and friends, THE ULTIMATE HOSTESS. She is a mother of five children and Meega (grandmother) to ten grandchildren.
Joanne
Co-Owner/General Manager
Joanne is the co-owner with her husband mike, and Betty. Joanne is a lover of fashion, art, and the outdoors. Joanne is also a loving mom to her kids.
Mary Jo
Manager
Mary Jo is the manager at The Velvet Shoestring. She is an avid reader, loves live music (especially Cher) and loves CHOCOLATE.
Andre'
Sales Associate
Andre' is a sales associate at the Velvet Shoestring. She is the oldest daughter of Betty. She is the ultimate party planner. She loves to decorate, and create beautiful floral arrangements.
Heidi
Sales Associate
Heidi is a Sales Associate at The Velvet Shoestring. She is a lover of horses, reading, and wine.

George is a Veteran of the US Army, Loves sports, and chatting with customers. He is always a Smile.
Kyler- Manager Truck Deliveries/Pickups/Local Moves
Kyler is a Green Bay Packers fan, loves dogs, and country music.
